Biveo receives its clients by promoting video production to the small business members of trade associations like AMSA, UMA and NFIB. Most referred clients will be small businesses that need a marketing video such as restaurants, hair salons, contractors, auto repair shops etc. Corporate, TV commercial, and animation referrals are also avaliable to willing and qualified videographers.
Biveo recommends offering an affordable video option that can be produced in about 5 hours. A concise video that introduces the owner while showing the staff, equipment, vehicles and building is often all that is needed to help a customer feel confident in hiring a business.
What kind of business volume can I expect?
We aim for volume that is roughly around one new client per week. We also recommend using your profile page as a package rate card you can email to potential new clients.
How does Biveo go about choosing a videographer for the client?
In most cases the client chooses the videographer from a list based on their example work and package rates. For project requests that come in to Biveo that have not chosen, the project is forwarded to videographers by proximity (typically 3).
How does Biveo advertise?
Biveo advertises nationally where it would be impractical for a local business to do so. Biveo primarily advertises with small business trade associations. For example, we would pay to advertise on the American Moving and Storage Association website or newsletter while requesting PR by asking the AMSA to recommend Biveo to movers at their conventions and various marketing seminars.
If the same customer contacts me directly for a second video is there a problem with that?
Not a problem. There is no fee on a second project if the client contacts you directly. Biveo only invoices a referral fee at the end of the month for leads that get emailed to you through the quote request feature.
If Biveo is not a middleman/broker, how does Biveo account for a finished product delivered to the client? Do you need to have a file/link sent to you to verify that the video is finished?
At the end of the month, Biveo will send a summary of the quote requests you received. You respond with the status of each. You are only billed for projects you confirm you have been paid on.
What is the invoice method and payment method to ensure that the transaction is logged and received?
Biveo uses Square as the invoicing platform to receive payment.
What are the requirements to join?
Videographers must have at least 2 business video examples in their portfolio, and ideally 3 to 6 that can be used to showcase business video packages you offer. Videos must be hosted on Vimeo, YouTube or Wistia and allow embedding for this domain. Videographers should provide great customer service as definied on the Learning Forum page: https://biveo.com/learning. Equipment quality levels are commercial grade. Quality skill level is demonstrated in past work.
What if the customer wants something custom?
Not a problem. But it is good to be familiar with Biveo's 6-step process to get a feel for what Biveo is promoting to clients.
Are the prices listed by videographers fixed? Can I provide custom quotes?
All quotes you provide clients are custom. The prices listed are only approximations to help clients more easily find a videographer that best fits their needs.
Can I offer different types of projects such as animations, visual effects etc.?
Absolutely. You can customize your profile to list packages for an unlimited number of project types.
Do I have to list a rate on my listing?
We highly recommend adding an appx. starting rate to produce a short marketing video to your listing as business owners say they have no idea if a videographer is a $200 or a $20,000 option. In user sessions, rate is the first thing they look at, and listings without a rate are skipped over.
Is this work local, or it is all over the country? How do you handle travel expenses?
Videographers can specify the mile radius they want to stay withing. Most choose 30 to 50 miles, others are national. Travel expenses are between you and client as we only invoice a referral fee after you get paid directly by the client (unless you are paying via flat advertising rate).
Will adding a marketing video to my listing help?
A marketing video producer should have a marketing video of their own service (one with A-roll and B-roll of you at work). This video helps make it easier for clients to learn about you, as well as communicate the belief that every business should have one.
I know Biveo offers a shoot-it-yourself option, what portion of visitors choose to hire a pro as opposed to creating it themselves?
Most business owners falsely assume that it's easy to produce a video. It isn't until they see all the steps broken down do they realize the value of hiring a pro. In our user sessions, a large portion of users start out wanting to create it themselves, but then change to hiring a pro after reviewing how much work it really is.
What obligations am I under as a Biveographer?

Who owns the rights to the videos? Can I post them on my company web site once they are done?
Video rights are between you and your client, but typically a contractor's work becomes property of the client. Biveo holds no rights. Clients should want their video promoted wherever possible, so most will be happy to have you post them on other sites.
Do you have a music library for us to use?
We recommend third party music sources on the Step 5 Editing page, and have a partnership with AirGigs.com, acustom music provider. Biveo does not engage in producing any videos for clients. We specialize in trade association marketing.
What if my customer does not pay?
Biveo will waive your referral fee if no payment can be collected, and help in the collection process if we can, Biveo does work like the yellow pages however, and does not act as a middleman.
